Synopsis
- Upshot: I swam with my swimmer sister, Diana.
- Downside: I'm too stiff when doing the butterfly.
- What I'm most proud of: I learned A LOT from my ex-Davis Swim Team sister … remember to kick harder/faster.
- What I would do differently: Practice my flip turns and strengthen my legs. And work on bending and snapping my knees/feet for fly.
Overall
My butterfly looks more like the butterdrop.
Diana is a really good swimmer. Her arms don't look perfect in form, but she sure is fast! She's fast without much effort. That's the coolest part. Of course, she kept asking me if I was all right after each set. I must have been panting to keep pace with her. I told her that swimming still winds me, but I recoup well in 10-15 seconds.
It was great to swim next to her and to just mainly watch what she was doing. It helped me better visualize what I'm supposed to be doing. I have freestyle down. She says that if I kick more streamlined and keep my feet more in the water, I'd be able to pull some more G's out.
There was so many little tricks she was giving me. Things like flip turns, and pushing off sideways and being as streamlined as possible. Using the black T to gauge last breathe/stroke before the flip. Other things, too. There was so much. I can't hardly remember, but I so wish I did! It was a great time, and for a change, she was really enthusiastic and patient with me during the whole "No, no, butterfly goes more like this …" I wish she lived around here. I'm going to miss her when I leave (in a month and 4 days)!
