Synopsis
- Upshot: The weather wasn't a biting cold.
- Downside: I am so completely and utterly sore from my last (8-mile) run.
- What I'm most proud of: That despite really not wanting to go, I still got out there and gave it my best.
- What I would do differently: Replace my legs with ones that work.
Overall
Ooooooh. I ache. I'm still sore from Saturday's 8-mile run. How can that be? When did I get so achy? My half-marathon plan even stated that I was supposed to run 4 miles yesterday, but I just couldn't do it. I could barely squat or go down stairs. I can really feel it whenever I try to go down the stairs. I can run up the stairs just fine, but going down the stairs I feel as though my knees will simply give out underneath me. My quads feel trembly. It's really freaky! It also really hurts. I'm not incapacitated, but it's been quite a while since I've been sore, and obviously I'm not too used to running 8 miles in one stretch. There's also the issue of my toenails. On either foot, the second toenail hurts to the touch. It's as though the top of the toenail is bruised (not the end of the toe). It's most noticeable whenever I push my toes down into the ground or if I tap the toenail from above. I assume there's something wierd my two toes must be doing to be singled out like that. I'll have to keep an eye on it. Aside from that, my little walk/jog went well enough today. I had some trouble getting a good breathing rhythm. I also started to overheat since it really wasn't all that cold out. I had to run the last 2 miles home against the wind. That was really tough. I'm really just glad to have made it since cardiac builds were about all I could muster.
