Synopsis
- Upshot: I put the chocolate to good use.
- Downside: I am the chocolate's whore.
- What I'm most proud of: I ran the whole time even though I just wanted to stop.
- What I would do differently: Eat real food at some point, not just chocolate all the time.
Overall
Copious consumption of chocolate does not good nutrition make. OMG, what is wrong with me? I can't stop eating chocolate. It's not just a bag. It's not just one day. We're talking about all the chocolate I can buy and/or get my hands on (ice cream, goodies, cakes, brownies) and I'm going on today being the fourth … the good news is that I think I can say it's finally quelled.
Seriously, though. How much chocolate can one person really crave … it's ridiculous to think it doesn't have some effect on my running performance. For two days I told myself, “Look, it's not a big deal, you'll run it off.” By day three, I was starting to worry. Today as day four, I had half a Hershey's dark chocolate bar for “breakfast” and then figured out that if I was going to get any running in today, it would have to be this morning. Talk about nutritional problems.
So, I felt like a lead butt today. Actually, my lap times say otherwise (averaging my goal race pace of 10:00/mi), but mentally … it was something else. I swear I even felt my assets jiggling the whole way, something that I have not noticed in a long time. So, is there actually chocolate-caused jiggling going on, or is it chocolate-guilt jiggling going on? I have to wonder.
In any case, it was a brutal, non-enjoyable run. That said, Calen had a great time. (He even got to dip into the icy water for a bit.) I got to experience a non-whining dog day because of it. So, that's a plus!
Theorectically, I'm going swimming tonight, too. I dunno' about that. I've got a lot of work and school stuff to catch-up on, and I already spent an hour of “free time” lounging around with Josh doing nothing but cuddling and whispering.
Oh, well. It's just a few days of being bad. At least I had a bowl of Fiber One Flakes with my chocolate milk … not all is lost.
