Synopsis
- Upshot: Despite having 4 days off this week, and battling a slight hangover and the beginnings of a migrane, I still got my a$$ in gear.
- Downside: Longest run I've ever experienced.
- What I'm most proud of: Longest distance to date!
- What I would do differently: Bring a map and/or scout a general route before heading out.
Overall
It was kinda' a short forever, if that's possible. It's strange to think that three miles is super short. It's weirder to me that I think of 6 miles as a normal short run. I'm blown away when I think about the fact that I ran 6 miles out in one direction knowing full well that I'll have to run that same distance back.
Although it takes nearly three hours of my life (warm-up/cooldown included), it goes by fairly quickly. Ahhhh … running. It's the hills, though, that get me down sometimes. I crawl up the hills. I actually walk the hills faster than I can run them. On the flats … that's my redemption. I'm still not fast, but I'm fast for me on the flats. I'm averaging 9:00/mile. Big improvement from the former 11:30/mile. I like it.
Just like I liked today, despite feeling sick all this morning. I finally ran out of house chores to do and had no other excuse except to go. So, I thought about mapping out a course, but then figured it would take too long to boot up my computer (and I'd lose motivation to go), so I grabbed my charged Garmin Forerunner 201 and decided on an “Adventure Run” where I just go, go, go and end up somewhere unknown and new to me. Sometimes, those are just the best. It fulfills my travel bug to some extent.
I ended up running out Glade Road. It goes somewhere, although I'm still not sure where. It turns into a highway, I think, or at least another country road, because that's where the sidewalk ends. I kept running and found myself at some 166 acres of wildlife park/reserve. I ran around that for a while. I eventually came back and simply completed the loop towards home via the Huckleberry as I was tired of hills and soggy grass all around. It was a good run. I'm going to enjoy hot food and a movie tonight!

Synopsis
- Upshot: Short follow-up run w/Josh.

- What I would do differently: Eat more and drink less.
Overall
Oh, but I just got back … and I'm tired. So very, very tired. My body is ready for a snack and a nap. But I'm still in workout clothes, and Josh wants to go, and so does Calen … and it is only three miles … so why not? In the end, I'm hurtin', but nothing that a hot shower and some hot soup and homemade bread can't fix. Bedtime will come early tonight!
