The Swim

Synopsis

Overall

That was a lot of swimming. It went by awfully quick. That was truly surprising. I almost didn't go today because it's snowing, I had to go to the post office, Josh was getting off of work at 2pm, blah, blah. Excuses, excuses. I just threw my backpack into the car and decided to go. I'm so glad I did! It was such a great workout of drills and stuff. I can actually feel myself getting "sleeker" in the water. A few times, I almost sucked down water instead of air, but I'm learning to fight that panicky feeling. I've come a long way since I started-up swimming (again) about 9 months ago. I'm still not a fantastic swimmer, but I am learning some of that Total Immersion stuff and finding that it really works. My balance is better and I'm more streamlined. It's cool, mainly because then swimming seems like less work. Ha, ha–the idea of swimming as easy would truly be a novel concept. But, easy does not necessarily mean "not a workout!" Phew! I'm beat! Even my poor legs are a bit trembly (from all that kicking–ugh!). And hungry, of course. Always hungry after swimming …
