Overall
It's frequency, not duration — right? I got there in decent time after lunch, but somehow I took forever to get dressed and then my swim cap split and tore right in two when I tried to pull it down over my hair. I had to run back out to the front desk to purchase a crappy rubbery one. No matter, though. I wasn't going to do a long set today, anyway. I wanted to focus on my balancing, rotation, stroke drills, and the like. I only needed a half hour, I guess. I got a good workout in. Not a long one, but that's okay. If I keep going 3+ times a week, it's really more about frequency, right?
My Hip: Update #1 February 21, 2006
Posted by Amber D. Evans in : Running, Reflections, Blacksburg VA , add a commentFor those of you asking, my hip appears to be perfectly fine and well. That is, it appears to be that way as long as I stick to walking 1.5 miles/20 minute session no more than three times a day. Anything lengthier or longer than that, and my hip begins to feel irritated. Of course, the great news is that it went from very-painful-any-kind-of-walking to now being walking in anything of excess of 4.5 miles/day OR more than a 20-30 minute session. It's only been two weeks, too, since I've laid off the running, so I think recovery is well underway. I fully intend to be jogging by the end of my six weeks off, so I'm keeping with strength training, using my Pilates ball (core and for stretching) combined with lots of swimming which seem to be helping in all.

- 900 yards - freestyle easy.
- 200 yards - freestyle easy.

Synopsis
- Upshot: Wasn't tired, fatigued, nor almost drowned.
- Downside: I wasn't able to just keep going for a true LSD swim, b/c I was also helping Josh swim.
- What I'm most proud of: I almost did 1000 yards w/o stopping! Rockin'!
- What I would do differently: Nothing.
Overall
My glorious LSD swim. My first one, to be exact. I've done these before back during last season, but I haven't been in practice enough to do it again–until yesterday. It wasn't a true LSD swim, but it was close enough for now. I was sharing a lane with Josh and he needed my input from time-to-time on his balance and treading water and what-not. I didn't mind. I felt great, although I have to say that I was starting to wear down by the end (going slower and taking more mental effort to keep my line and stroke steady). Overall, it I felt confident in that it was a great workout (mental and physical), plus I wasn't starving afterwards! I'm already looking forward to doing it again next week.
