Gosh, I’ve been so “lazy.” April 3, 2006
Posted by Amber D. Evans in : Reflections, Chico CA , 3 commentsYeah, so I haven’t really been doing well on the working out bit. Things in life sometimes get a little hectic.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the fact that:
- I came back to California for what I thought was going to be 4 weeks.
- I’m going to be in California for 4 months.
- I don’t have a car of my own right now.
- I just fender-bendered my mom’s mini-van into another car last week.
- I currently reside at the ‘rents. (A totally temporary thing!)
- The ‘rents live 12 miles away from town which means I’m 12 miles away from my gym.
- My bike doesn’t like the rain. (Okay, okay, maybe it’s me.)
- It’s been raining non-stop for two weeks.
- I’m frantically trying to finish my M.S. degree. (*sigh*)
- I have to meet with my M.S. Committee whenever I can, often chasing them down. (Hey, that sounds like exercise, right?)
- I have a loptop, 14 “gia-normous” books, and one CD-ROM that I have to carry everywhere with me.
- I’ve been helping my ‘rents with their jobs/work (as thanks).
- The ‘rents jobs are time consuming …
- I’ve got a little cold.
I’m not feeling whiny or sorry for myself. I actually feel good that despite all those inconveniences, I’ve been dedicated to working out up until last week. I miss the convenience of carrying one bag (also holds my lunch) in a car to go to the gym, and then to go to school/work. It just seems so darn complicated right now. There aren’t any buses that come out this far, so I depend on carpooling 100%. I’m couch surfing on Mondays and Wednesdays so I can attend 5:00 AM spinning classes. I guess I’m just tired of not having a “real home” of my own. Plus, I’m tired of lugging around a wheeled suitcase.
The really good news is that I’ve got an apt. lined up to move into this weekend. My M.S. Project is to be implemented by the 24th of this month; I haven’t any time to spare to move, but we’re talking about a place of my own. Ah, something’s gotta’ give, so I’ll be sacrificing some of my workouts again this week (like last week). A few days off in a row won’t kill me or my progress, right? I’ll still be able to do it all … I’m hoping.
Moving into town … phew! I may still be carless, but at least I’ll be within 30 minutes of walking distance to everywhere and I’ll be able to take the buses! Yea! And if it ever stops raining, I could start riding my bike. All of this is wonderful news. This means I’ll be able to start doing 5:30 AM Masters swim three days a week and 5:00 AM Spinning twice a week! I’ll make it to all three of the Pilates classes, and am likely to make a few weightlifting sessions with my friends as well. I won’t have to carry my arsenal of learning everywhere, either. Things are looking so good.
P.S. - I just got back my revised draft of my Project write-up (same thing as a Thesis, just not focused on research questions) and it’s looking good! For the first two chapters there’s not too much to fix or change! WooWee! Today I’m writing the third chapter: Methodology. (Oooooo, exciting!)
P.S.S. - Does typing count as an exercise? Ha, ha! I certainly know my brain feels fatigued by the end of the day! ;P
