Wow! That’s a lot of time cleaning the bike! Impressive.
You really rock at the cleaning stuff… you need to come to my house now!
~ef
Okay–ha, ha. I wasn’t cleaning my bike or my house. My parents own apartments in my hometown and they had three vacancies at once. I needed money and they needed help … so I worked entire DAYS doing that. Cleaning apartments is like cleaning your entire house after a move–it’s A LOT of hard, hard work for 8 hours a day. Plus, I had to paint all three apts., so my arms got a great workout!
Hey, if you all don’t believe me, you’re more than welcome to come on over and help out to see for youself!
Oh, and “cleaning” also includes hauling out discarded furniture, doing plumbing and drywall, and all other things associated with home repair and cleaning for 8 hours a day. (But I don’t do electrical, sorry.)
So that must have been tough I see. How many gels did ya go through and did you have the HRmontor on? Staying in the AeT I hope
Oh, Libor, you’re almost too much! And FYI, I *did* have the HR monitor on. I was in the upper levels during the furniture moving and was actually within zone 1 and 2 base for about 70% of the time. Vigorously scrubbing showers and floors and painting walls (double-coat, mind you) is amazingly aerobic. Of course, it’s not like tri training, but when it’s 8 hours a day, I think it ought to count for something.
It burned off lunch at least! Ha, ha!
Sounds like a total body workout to me! Men WOULD be impressed by the cleaning #s. I take it the rest of your hours were divided up between your project and sleep? I wonder how many calories you burned doing all that typing/writing? I would have included it.
Have a great May!!!!
Ha, ha. You all crack me up!
I actually log all “active” hours. That means time not sleeping, eating, or sitting. I realize that’s a lot of leeway, but I’m mostly tracking calories burned when you see those things like cleaning or walking (simple activities).
Why? See, I’m not just recording Tri training. I’m actually tracking calories in/calories out. Over the last 9 months I’ve learned that if I average 20,000 calories burned in a month from any “activity” then I don’t really have to watch what I eat so carefully. If I fall below 16,000 calories burned in a month, I have to either increase my activity or alter my food intake to keep my weight healthy-ish. Since I typically spend 6-10 hours a day sitting on my bum moving only my fingers, there’s not much activity to record. (That’s a sadly normal day.) If I’m up and about, then that’s abnormal (which is good and makes me happy), and contributes to my overall goal of making 20,000 calories burned in a month. Does that help?
So, yeah, April was a bit of a weird month. I squeezed workouts in as best as possible, but around the first of April I spent 4-5 days helping with the apartments, and then there were those two weeks I was confined to my laptop doing the typing marathon. Only after the 24th was I able to start logging more “real” workouts again. Ehhhhh … I do what I can. My tri coach always says, “You do what you can, and count what you do.”
To me, that means that everything counts for something, you just have to see what that could be … Since I rarely do any upper body stuff (except for swimming), painting was killing me at first, but gave me a good base to start weights and swimming from. (I’m being serious. Pushing a vacuum can cause soreness for me sometimes! Just ask my husband! Hee, hee!)
I think that in the end, it all works out all right. I’m just still happy to tri!
