Chico State Cycling Jersey February 28, 2007

Evans in : Cycling, Gear and Equipment, Blacksburg VA, Chico CA , add a commentIt’s come to my attention that there are many CSU, Chico Alumni out there cycling the roads of the good ol’ USA. How do they represent their alma mater? By wearing an official Chico State Cycling Jersey, of course.
The problem? Where to find a Chico State Cycling Jersey.
I just picked one up for myself last Xmas when I was back in Chico, CA. If you can’t make it to Chico, then you can call and try to buy the jersey (~$75, if I remember correctly) from the guys at:
Cyclesport
222 W. 2nd Street
Chico, CA 95928
Mon-Sat 10:00-6:00, Sun 11-4 Seasonally
(530) 345-1910
If Mike Peavy, the store owner, answers the phone tell him Amber sent you!
Good luck and get out and ride!
Mornings bring a different perspective …

Despite my lallygagging this morning, I did manage to get up and out of bed and into my spinning attire. I went to class, crammed 30 minutes of sleepy, sweaty spinning in, came home, looked longingly at the bed … and turned away to go shower instead. After that, the day took off like everyday does. Huzzah.
Tomorrow: Swimming 2500 yards (or close to that).
Oh, Baby! It’s (halfway) on … February 27, 2007

Try this experiment: spend a week eating nothing but fast food and pre-packaged foods and see how you’re feeling. Throw in some late nights and early mornings of constant homework, subtract all workouts, and see what kind of living that is.
Oh, wait–that isn’t living.
So, back to my original thought: screw the rigors of constant studying. I will not go down as a triathlete casualty of graduate education! I refuse to do so! Henceforth, I have begun my revolution against the machine once again! I’m … halfway there, anyway.
Hubbub aside, Sunday afternoon I dragged out my PS2 and Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) game and spent a half-hour in “aerobic workout mode.” Then I proceeded to “waste” yet another hour trying to beat some of my previous scores (which I did on two of them). Apparently, becoming a triathlete has also inadvertently made me a better DDR dancer–who would’ve thought? Anyway, whoever said video games weren’t good for your health has never played a riveting game of DDR; my heart rate was within 130-155 the whole time!
Ah, so what else have I done to rally against the Slacker Gods? Well, on Monday I went to spinning for 45 minutes, and today I swam for 1800 yards (~45 minutes). Tomorrow it’s more spinning, Thursday more swimming, etc. I’ve resolved to do something everyday, even if it’s only a little something. And if it means getting up at 5:30 AM to do that little something, then that’s what it means. I have to say, I’m feeling really good again and I’m super energetic in the mornings–Hooray! (Now, if only I could squeeze in a nap after 2:00 PM! Life would then be PERFECT!)
Oh, but I mustn’t forget that I am still a grad student … and so the studying still continues … The hardest part will soon be over. Friday at 2:00 PM the worst of the Qualifying Exam will have passed! I’m SOOOOOO heading to Hokie House and drinking a fatty of Yuengling after that! Booyah!
