My Gear

The stuff of the sport and what I think of it.
(And for what it’s worth, I work with a very tight budget.)

Speedo Serenity Silicone cap
It tore one day as I was putting it on. I don’t even have fingernails, so I don’t understand how or why it happened. I’d only had it for about four months with less than 2x a week at the pool with it. I even rinsed, dried, and baby powdered it like I was supposed to. I liked it though. I was really cool looking and people always commented on it. It matched my Vanquisher goggles perfectly. It was never very stretchy though, so it was sometimes tough to put on, especially if you had long hair (which I did at the time).

Jogbra sports bras
My favorite sports bra is the 100% CoolMax Jogbra. It’s soft, smooth, comfortable, provides full coverage and lockdown for a C cup, and never feels wet or clingy. Dries quickly, too.

Champion C9 zipper front sports bra
This one is a nightmare. It compresses a C-cup very well for high-intensity activities, but it always causes chafing and raw spots where the zipper backing rubs against the body. Ouch.

Peds Active Sport Light Cushioning Quarter socks
I love these. These have replaced all of my normal socks and have even found their way into my dress boots! They never let your feet get wet and cold, and they’re thin enough for loafers, dress boots, and when you just want something light and airy.

Peds Active Sport Medium Cushioning Quarter socks
I love these for Fall, Winter, and Spring. Same as the light series, just with more cushioning (i.e. fuzzy fabric) on the bottoms. Perfect for the gym and general workouts, but not supportive enough for my high arches when running.

Feetures Low Cut socks
It figures that the $9/pr. socks would be my favorite ones. I love these for any and all running that I do. They have a really supportive spandex gathering/band that goes around the entire arch of the foot and I swear this makes all the difference in how my feet feel after long runs (and cycling rides)! I’ve noticed that I’ve completely eliminated “hot spots” with these socks, although why that is I can’t say.

Performance Womens Classic Shorts
Should only be used for spinning classes. Inexpensive padding, but is good for an hour. Doesn’t seem to come up as high as the century shorts. Unfortunately causes “cameltoe.” It’s not a pretty sight so don’t just stand around in these, okay?

Performance Womens Century Shorts
I like these a lot, especially when Spring has just arrived. Comfortable, breathable, easy to clean/wash/dry. Comes up high over hips (all the way to belly button). Especially good for those of us with long torsos and ample curves.

Performance Womens Century Short Shorts
Just like the century shorts, only with a shorter inseam. Great for summer and people who like their legs. This short is good for getting a tan that fits with your everyday shorts and skirts, too.

Performance Womens Gel Short
Gave away to a friend, b/c they were too baggy after losing weight. Loved them otherwise. Very comfy for the longer rides. High rise, long legs, good support. I was really quite sad to have to give them away.

Cannondale Mens Velocity Short-Sleeve jersey

VOMax Mens Sierra Nevada Short-Sleeve jersey
Beer and cycling–what’s not to love? My favorite jersey out of the bunch! (I received it as an Xmas gift.) Fits great, and I love the elastic in the arms and hips (doesn’t pinch). The sleeves are a bit longer than my other jerseys so I like it best for spring riding.

REI Trail Running shorts
Best running shorts on the entire planet. I own at least 4 pairs of these. Have built-in panties/liner that doesn’t bunch, bind, or pinch. These shorts are lightweight, dry quickly, and have 2 zippered pockets that can hold keys and credit cards.
